A WOOD MINIATURE ZUSHI (SHRINE)
Late Edo/Meiji Period (Mid-Late 19th Century)
With two hinged doors, the interior carved in relief with Amida Buddha in the centre on a lotus pedestal beneath a canopy hung with bells, and a bodhisattva on either side on the reverse of each door, the textured background painted blue, details in gold and other colours, the exterior plain wood with gold lacquer decoration of lotuses in a pond, the metal hinges in the form of butterflies beneath clouds, the sun and the moon, minor old damage
3 1/8 x 4 3/8in. (8 x 11cm.)
