Signed Fukichi, Mid-Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
With yellow-brown patination, the truncated ovoid bodies with short everted necks, each on a separate ring-shaped stand with three monster-mask feet, the sides decorated in very high relief with peacocks, pheasants, geese and other birds with rocks, peonies, peaches and other plants, the stands cast and chiselled with floral ornament and embellished with aoi-mon [hollyhock crests], each signed on the base Fukichi chu [cast by Fukichi]
