TWO MINIATURE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL VASES
Late Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
The first of tall baluster form with a long neck and applied gilt foot and rim, the pale blue enamel ground worked in gold wire with stylised chrysanthemum blossoms and tendrils, the foot with floral motifs in ascending lappets, the top of the neck with descending lappets, the shoulder with a band of translucent enamel surrounded by a ring of butterfly motifs, the neck with stylised floral motifs on a black ground, signed in large characters on a silver plaque on the slightly recessed base Kyoto Namikawa [Namikawa of Kyoto], slight old damage to shoulder; and another of rounded square plan and tall baluster form with a short neck and applied silvered metal foot and rim, the black ground worked in gold wire with four butterflies, the foot-ring and rim with lappet designs
