All iron and 19th century unless otherwise stated: Oval, carved as bamboo, the leaves forming the rim, signed Kofu no ju Mitsuyoshi, 2¾in. (7cm.); broad oval, tsuchimeji [hammered ground], a court carriage wheel in kage-sukashi [negative piercing] and a mantis in low relief, silver and gilt details, signed Dewa no ju Shoami S ada...., 18th century, 3in. (7.7cm.); shakudo nanako [copper gold alloy with granulated ground], a spider and fly in gilt and shakudo takazogan [relief inlay], 1 9/16in. (4cm.); round, carved and pierced overall with dragons and tendrils, gilt rim, Nanban work, 2 13/16in. (7.2cm.); oval, shibuichi [copper-silver alloy] carved in katakiri [engraving] with Chinese men, signed Masaharu, 3 1/8in. (8cm.); irregularly shaped, shakudo nanako carved as a gilt chrysanthemum with large hitsuana holes forming the rim, signed Mototsugu with a kao [cursive monogram], 2½in. (6.3cm.); round with vertical yasurime [file-marks], Jurojin in iron takazogan, gilt details, inscribed with the full Kaneie signature, 17th century, 3in. (7.7cm.); mokkogata [square with indented corners], tsuchimeji, carved and pierced with clouds, chrysanthemum and paulownia leaves, gilt details, signed Yamashiro no kuni Nishijin no ju Umetada Shigemitsu [Umetada Shigemitsu of Nishijin in Yamashiro province], 18th century, 3¼in.
