A HIIRAGI-YA TSUBA, SOTEN FUCHI-KASHIRA AND THREE PAIRS OF MENUKI
All 19th century unless otherwise stated; the circular iron tsuba pierced and carved in marubori with Yoshiie and two warriors and cranes on rocks and three geese in flight, 3in. (7.5cm.); shakudo fuchi-kashira depicting a battle scene at sea, carved in takabori, details in gilt, fuchi signed Goshu Hikone ju Kitagawa, Soheishi Nyudo Soten sei, 18th/19th Century; The first pair of menuki of irogane decorated in gilt and shakudo zogan, depicting two seated warriors, one commanding and one bowing, with naginata and bow; the second pair each formed as shell game pieces depicting a poet, Ono no Komachi and flowers; the third pair of quivers, covered animal fur, the details finely applied in gilt (11)
