Late Edo/Early Meiji Period (19th Century)
A boxwood netsuke of a laughing karako seated and playing with a toy frog, the himotoshi formed by a small and a larger hole on the base, signed on the base Kyokusai; and an ivory netsuke of a monkey clutching a kaki [persimmon] between his legs, the fine branch of the fruit finishing with a leaf resting on his back, the natural himotoshi formed by the leg, signed on the base Shomin in a rectangular reserve
