An Anglo-Indian hardwood davenport, late 19th century
the pierced foliate scrolled galleried superstructure (damaged, with losses) above a floral and acanthus moulded leather lined hinged writing slope (distressed) revealing two interior drawers and a lower dummy drawer above two stork carved front supports, the rear structure carved throughout with foliate panels in relief, comprising a hidden inkwell to the right above a single cupboard door enclosing a bank of four graduated drawers, on a conforming serpentine fronted base with lion mounted feet on castors -- 25in. (63.5cm.) wide, 44½in. (113cm.) high, 23in. (58.5cm.) deep
