The unusual standing full length image of Sitting Bull holding his familiar peace-pipe wearing his single eagle feather, facsimile signature of Sitting Bull, marked Barton/Chamberlain, S.D.
A famous photograph of Sitting Bull, wearing the exact same clothing and eagle feather, while holding the same peace-pipe is known marked Copyright 1884 by Palmquist & Jurgens, in that image he is seated. That photograph is numbered "10". This image is numbered "11", and both bear the same signature of Sitting Bull. The photographs were taken at the same time. This cabinet card is an early 1890s reprint done by the Barton studio of the earlier 1884 Palmquist & Jurgens' image.
