A VERY FINE GOLD DAMASCENED DOUBLE-HEADED INDO-PERSIAN AXE, 19TH CENTURY
The watered-steel double headed axe, inlaid with gold and chiseled with elaborate panels of floral scrolls and birds, gold damascened spearhead, and floral damascened handle drilled through suggesting this axe was once mounted as part of a panolply of arms
38¼ inches (97.1 cms.) overall
9½ inch (24.1 cm.) blade
Probably once part of a suite of arms which Lot 145 belonged to as well.
