An official maroon pennant from the 1948 World Heavy Weight Championship, inscribed June 1948, Joe Louis vs. "Jersey" Joe Walcott, World! Heavy Weight Championship, in very good condition, 24in. (61cm) wide; a letter of authenticity from Harold Mayes stating At the time of fight which was the 2nd meeting of Joe Louis & Walcott, I (Harold Mayes) had already written Joe's (Louis) life story in The Sunday Empire News. I was already at the training camp with him on Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, which was the real venue for the champions on those days. This pennant was one of the actual pennants that was hanging in the training camp and I was given it by Joe as a souvenir before the fight. I have had it in my possession ever since; a pair of miniature boxing gloves; and a lapel badge of Sugar Ray Robinson (4)
