Further details
In 1873 Marlborough selected two pairs of racquets players to represent the college in the Public Schools Racquets Championship for the first time. Frederick Hugh Lee (1855-1924) played with A.K. Butterworth and represented the school at the tournament held at the Old Princes Club, Hans Place, London. These presentation rackets are more likely to have been presented to Lee for his achievements whilst at Marlborough and not for reaching the final of the tournament, with the first racket pre-dating the championship by one year.

Whilst at Marlborough, Lee also captained the cricket XI and represented the college in the raquets pair between 1872-73. Prior to the championship, the boys played on an open court.
Lee went on to Trinity College, Oxford where he received a blue for Rugby and captained the XV in 1877, before representing England at an International level in 1876 and 1877.
