An unusual ivory Shibayama style inro
19th Century
with two central doors opening to reveal a miniature cabinet with two fitted drawers and a small door, the exterior decorated with a bottle vase issuing peony and prunus flowering sprays a teapot to one side, the reverse decorated with a standing egret among foliage, mother-of-pearl signature tablet; attached metal ojime and an ivory netsuke carved as a seated figure holding a cup, signed Masaharu -- 3 7/8in. (9.8cm.) high, (split to interior of cabinet, a few small hair cracks).
