An ivory Shibayama style tusk vase
19th Century
inlaid in mother-of-pearl, stained ivory, coral and tortoiseshell, decorated with a baluster vase issuing peony flowering sprays, raised on a wooden stand, a bird in flight to one side, a ewer standing beside, the reverse decorated with a bird perched on a pole above flowering branches and a thatched roof beside a meandering stream, mother-of-pearl tablet signed Masamitsu, carved and pierced wood stand -- 20in. (50.8cm.) high, total height, (four small pieces of inlay missing, age cracks to top).
