Meiji period
with loop finial and handle, inlaid in silver and gilt, decorated with incised bands of scrolling foliage, above phoenix in flight in shaped cartouches and among clouds, and scattered foliate branches, incised signature to cover -- 5¼in. (13.3cm.) high, (handle has been re-applied, dent to footrim. rubbing and wear).
