A silver and bronze model of a hawk
Meiji Period
perched attentively on a t-shaped lacquer and silver-repousse stand, with fitted koro to the bird's upper shoulders, separate feather cover section and liner, the hawk with naturalistic detailed feathers, gilt eyes and shakudo pupils, shakudo claws and with lowered gilt foot standing on a fitted roironuri three-section lacquer perch, its base of flaring quatrefoil form, decorated in gold hiramakie and nashiji with scattered feathers, in shaped repousse silver mounts cast with a multitude of flowerheads, and decorated with three bands of stylised petals to the foot, the koro's cover section with signature seal missing -- 25in. (63.5cm.) high overall, (minor damages).
