A pair of painted and lacquered fans
Meiji Period
each painted in colour and lightly speckled gilt to both sides with wild flowers issuing from riverbanks, the handles decorated in brown, red, black and gold lacquer with a bird in flight amongst peony sprays and a butterfly amongst lilies -- 14½in. (36.7cms) long, signed to the handles, attached silk tassles, each with coves with title labels inscribed 'manufactured by Haibara Naojiro, Tokio, Japan.
