A pair of inlaid bronze tapering vases
Meiji Period
with inverted shoulder and slight flaring foot, decorated in silver and gilt hirazogan with a cockerel and hen before children holding fans under pine branches and a peony flowerhead, the reverse with two hares among grasses, one's head looking towards the clouded moon, all above a band of stiff leaves -- 11in. (28.9cm.) high, (losses to silver inlay).
