Edo Period
the interior painted in various coloured pigments on a gold lacquer ground, two sets of hinged doors open to reveal a painted wooden model of a multi-armed deity seated to the centre on a triple lotus base before a flaming mandarla, the back doors reveal the reverse of the mandarla painted with Immortals standing on clouds holding attributes, the interior of the doors decorated with flowering lotus issuing from rippling waters below scrolling clouds -- 5¼in. (13.4cm.) high, (damages).
