An ovoid Satsuma vase
Meiji Period
with narrow everted rim, painted and gilt with a continuous band of floating tennin above a further band depicting figures in boats before pavilions on stilts, borders of geometric designs and scattered flower heads -- 6 1/8in. (15.5cm.) high, signed; and a Satsuma baluster vase with broad neck, painted and gilt with a panel of figures crossing a bridge before pavilions, the reverse scene with figures in a mountainous landscape, all within bands of geometric and flower head motifs -- 6 7/8in. (17.5cm.) high, signed.
