A Satsuma tapering vase
Meiji Period
with slightly lobed shoulders and everted flattened rim, decorated with moulded shaped panels, painted and gilt with butterflies, ladies before a terrace, rakan and boys playing with fans, all on a ground of birds amongst numerous flowers and bushes, within geometric and lappet borders -- 6½in. (16.3cm.) high, (rim restoration).
