A tapering Satsuma vase
Meiji Period
with slightly everted neck and spreading foot, painted and gilt with panel depicting ladies, children and attendants on a terrace, the reverse with a hen and cockerel amongst bamboo and flower sprays, all on a blue ground with geometric patterns and butterflies below trailing wisteria, within moulded concentric bands -- 5 1/8in. (13cm.) high, (small section of rim broken and restuck).
