A pair of Satsuma hexagonal vases
19th Century
with widely flaring necks, each flanked by a kneeling karako above moulded ring and tassel handles, painted and heavily gilt with shaped panels of birds on riverbanks lined with flowers and rockwork, all on grounds of smaller panels of butterflies in flight, pagodas in landscapes and dense floral and geometric motifs -- 21¼in. (54cm.) high, (damage to handles.)
