Inlaid overall with floral trellis, the hinged shaped rectangluar top inlaid with a ribbon-tied musical trophy, decorated with foliate trails to the reverse and enclosing a plain red velvet-lined interior, on cabriole legs with a concave-fronted platform inlaid with a floral spray and incorporating a walnut-lined drawer, terminating in C-scroll and rockwork sabots and English rosewood castors, stamped C. WOLFF, REMOUNTED

CHRISTOPHE WOLFF, MAîTRE IN 1755.

UNUSUALLY INLAID IN CHERRYWOOD, THE FLORAL MARQUETRY TO THE INSIDE IS REMARKABLY WELL PRESERVED, ESPECIALLY ITS ORIGINAL GREEN-STAINED COLOUR. A FURTHER RARE FEATURE IS THE WALNUT-LINED DRAWER IN THE STRETCHER.
