A PAIR OF LOUIS XV GILTWOOD FAUTEUILS A LA REINE
By Jean Gourdin, known as Pere Gourdin, the design attrributed to Nicolas and Dominique Pineau
Each with waved channelled toprail trailed with vines and centred by an acanthus and scallop-shell clasp, the padded back, outswept C-scroll and foliate-trailed arms and drop-in upholstered a chassis with light blue floral silk, the base of the stiles carved with asymmetric foliate-scrolled C-scrolls, the serpentine-fronted channelled apron with central acanathus and shell clasp, on foliate-trailed channelled cabriole legs and scroll feet, one stamped PERE GOURDIN, both with handwritten label '89/4', regilded (2)
Provenance
Almost certainly supplied to the marquis de Voyer for the château d'Asnières.
Roberto Polo, sold with the previous lot, Ader Tajan, Paris, 7 November 1991, lot 142 (FF 3,000,000, for the set of four).
