17th Century
On a white satin ground, with raised work and pluche work, embroidered overall with varios flowers animals and insects, depicting a king, probably Charles II, beneath a canopy flanked by courtiers, with another king mounted on horseback in the background and a man on the gallows to the side, the other side embroidered with a hamlet, the lower corners with a lion to the left and a leopard to the right, some of the design left unfinished, the satin with some slits and stains, within a foliate moulded giltwood frame
