A Dutch walnut and figured walnut armoire
Circa 1900
The moulded rectangular cornice centred by a coat of arms surmounted by a crest issuing scrolling arabesques, above a frieze carved with scrolling foliage and flanked and divided by grotesque masks, above a pair of doors with raised panels carved with fruiting foliate trails, headed by cherub's masks, flanked and divided by spirally-twisted pilasters headed by Corinthean capitals carved with cherub masks, enclosing a plain interior with two shelves and two drawers fitted for cutlery, the top shelf with two pierced carved doors and a conforming sliding door flanked and divided by hinged pilasters, each concealing a further compartment, above two base drawers flanked and divided by lion's masks, on bun feet, minor restorations
