AN EARLY GEORGE III BLACK AND GILT-JAPANNED CABINET-ON-STAND
Decorated overall with oriental scenes of foliage and pavilions in landscapes, the doors with a procession of Japanese dignitaries in a landscape, enclosing an interior of variously-sized drawers lined in simulated gilt nashiji, decorated with pavilions and foliage, on a black-painted and parcel-gilt stand with gadrooned border, losses to the japanning, four angle-brackets replaced, with chalk inscription to the reverse 'E4732 X ST GILES HSE' and with old Christie's stock number 'BE861', the underside of the stand with printed Christie's label 'Furniture from St Giles's House June 26th 1980'
