A GEORGE II MAHOGANY BOTTLE-STAND
The rectangular eight bottle-compartment with shaped rosette-and-ribbon carved edge, central carrying-handle, on cabriole legs with scrolled feet, on leather castors, two angle-brackets replaced, with five cut-glass decanters and stoppers and another similar, one stopper and one neck damaged, with inscription to the underside 'No. 559 £ W.te.O', the rosette-and-ribbon edge possibly recarved
19 in. (48 cm.) high; 26½ in. (67.5 cm.) wide; 15 in. (38 cm.) deep
Provenance
Bought from M. Harris & Sons, London, by the present owner's uncle, 28 June 1935 for £135 along with eight cut-glass decanters for £65.
