A WILLIAM AND MARY EBONISED AND GILT-BRASS MOUNTED TABLE TIMEPIECE WITH PULL QUARTER REPEAT
The movement and dial by Joseph Knibb
The associated case with handle to the pierced gilt-brass basket top cast with foliate designs and amorini, rectangular glazed side panels, brass escutcheon to the front door, on stepped and moulded base and raised on later flattened brass feet (one associated); the 6in. square gilt-brass dial with turn-screw latches to secure the case and signed along the lower edge Joseph Knibb Londini fecit, with gilt winged cherub mask spandrels to a silvered later chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, matted centre, well pierced blued steel hands (possibly later), the movement with five latched ringed baluster pillars and pinned dial feet, single wire fusee movement with reconverted verge escapement, with pull wind quarter repeat on two bells, the backplate engraved with flowers and leafy scrolls and with repeat signature; case and movement associated, both circa 1700
