The romantic Gothic castle at Luttrelstown is one of the finest demesnes in Ireland. The house and estate was bought by Ernest Guinness for his daughter Aileen Plunket, and from the 1950s, along with the inspired decorating skills of Felix Harbord, she transformed its interiors. She and Harbord bought many pieces from Country House sales and lot 162 in the present sale is thought to have come from Wilton House, Salisbury, seat of the Earls of Pembroke. The present pair of tables were situated in the dining-room at Luttrelstown.
