A PONTREMOLI GROS-POINT AND PETIT-POINT RUG
England, circa 1940
The cream field with delicate floral sprays and stylised branches around three panels, the outer two containing floral sprays and a stylised floral motif, the central panel containing a radiating sun burst flowerhead together with delicate floral sprays in a cream border of scrolling flowering and leafy vine together with polychrome flowerheads in a ton-sur-ton reciprocal skittle-pattern outer stripe, signed 'JMP.' in one corner, minute surface stains, otherwise excellent condition
7 ft.2 in. x 4 ft.5 in. (218 cm. x 135 cm.)
