The case with brass handle to the inverted bell top, with breakarch glazed side panels within moulded frames (arch mouldings lacking), later veneers to the rear door (formerly with quarter frets), the front door with quarter frets to the arch (lacking), on rectangular base and on block feet, the gilt brass dial with gilt floral basket spandrels to a silvered chapter ring, with matted centre, date and mock pendulum apertures, blued steel hands, the arch with silvered plaque signed Geo: Chauvet LONDON between subsidiary rings for regulation and strike/silent, each engraved to the centre with stylised flowerheads, the five pillar twin gut fusee movement with verge escapement, pull wind quarter repeat on two bells and hour strike on further bell, the backplate engraved overall with foliate scrolls and with repeat signature on a cartouche to the centre, with engraved pendulum rise and fall bar, pendulum holdfast and movement securing brackets
