In the style of Daniel Quare. 20th century
The case with brass DQ handle to an inverted bell top, with acorn finials to the angles, with breakarch frame to glazed side panels overlaid on pierced brass frets, with conforming quarter panels to the front door, on stepped base and brass stepped bracket feet, the gilt brass dial numbered 43 below the chapter ring, with coronet lower and foliate upper spandrels, the silvered chapter ring with cross half hour and lozenge half quarter hour markers, the matted centre with mock pendulum aperture and spurious signature Dan Quare London, blued steel hands, with subsidiary rings above for pendulum regulation and strike/silent, each with plain centre, a silvered date ring in the arch with matted centre, the five ringed pillar twin gut fusee movement with pivoted verge escapement, hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat on smaller bell, with foliate cast openwork apron to the backcock, brass regulation bar, the backplate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls, with repeat signature and number
