The Altas Fire and Life Assurance Company was founded in 1808 and merged with the Royal Exchange in 1959. Beside the examples offered here, Henham and Sharp note the existance of badges number 1 and 19 as well as numbers 8, 12, 14, 15 and 17 which have been recorded but whose whereabouts was unknown at the time their book was published.
