A William IV Scottish oak longcase clock, second quarter 19th century
The hood with swan-neck pediment and outset brass-capped columns, Gothic arch glazed side panels, with arched trunk door, the plinth raised on bracket feet, the 12in. wide white dial painted with birds amidst flowers to the arch and spandrels, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, signed JNO. MILLS MONTROSE, brass hands, with falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, the seatboard with Victorian retail label -- 84in. (214cm.) high
