A Victorian mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The case with foliate carved caps to the swan-neck pediment, verre eglomisé panel to the cornice, outset columns, the wavy arch trunk door flanked by plain three-quarter length pilasters, the plinth with canted angles, raised panel and on later skirting, the 13in. square brass dial with shell and scroll spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, gilt matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and square date aperture, foliate scroll engraving around the winding holes, signed on a silvered plaque W. Simcock PRESCOT, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 87½in. (222cm.) high
