The attribution was kindly suggested by Nicholas Turner. The handling of the pen and white heightening is comparable to that in a drawing in the Uffizi, M. Di Giampaolo ed., Disegni emiliani del Rinascimento, Milan, 1989, no. 13. Other drawings by Bagnacavallo are in the Louvre, M. Faietti, Un siècle de dessin à Bologne, exhib. cat., Paris, Musée du Louvre, 2001, no. 15 and figs. 12.1-2.
