Cf. Leonard Whiter, Spode (London, 1970) pl. 74, pl. 91 and pl. 92. On p. 170 Whiter notes the sources for this pattern as being largely drawn from Outlines from the Figures and Compositions upon the Greek and Etruscan Vases of the late Sir William Hamilton, with engraved borders. Drawn and engraved by the late Mr Kirk (1804).

This is the second part of the service which was sold in these Rooms, 3rd November 1997, lot 115.
