There appear to be two other known Frankenthal centre-pieces of this type in existence. Of these two, the centre-piece in the Erkenbert-Museum in Frankenthal, is the more similar to the present lot, and it is illustrated by Edgar J. Hürkey, 'Frankenthaler Porzellan' Catalogue (1990), p. 37, no. 25. The central supported pierced basket and cover is almost identical to the present lot, and it also has four figures emblematic of the Seasons. However, as its other components are lacking, it is less complete than the present lot.
The largest and most elaborate example is illustrated in Friedrich H. Hofmann, Frankenthaler Porzellan (1911), pl. 159, no. 627. This flamboyant centre-piece incorporates a large amount of figures of different sizes and types, and the central basket and cover is also of a different form from the other two centre-pieces. Hofmann lists it as being part of the Dr. Adolf List Collection, which was sold before the Second World War.
