A Pair of Meissen lions
Circa 1750, lioness with blue crossed swords mark to edge of base
The lion walking with his left front leg raised and his tail curled between his hind-legs and round his ribs, his head turned to his left, the lioness stationary with her right fore-leg raised and tail between her hind-legs, her head turned to her right with her jaws open, their pale-brown coats with dark-brown markings, each supported by a small tree-stump on oval mound bases applied with flowers and foliage (chipping to flowers and foliage, he with restoration to left hind-leg and right ear, front left paw probably a replacement, slight chipping to left ear, her right fore-leg probably a replacement, slight restoration to ears, slight chipping to teeth)
He 3 in. (7.8 cm.) and she 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm.) high (2)
