A Japanese lacquer incense cabinet
Meiji Period
the small rectangular cabinet fitted with a hinged door opening to reveal three drawers, decorated on the exterior in gold and silver takamakie and hiramakie on a mokume togidashi ground simulating wood grain with open fans with exterior scenes, the door with silver incised hinges and clasp decorated to the inside with a mountainous scene, the fronts of the drawers with similar design on a nashiji ground, two drawers fitted with further smaller boxes, one with tray, the interiors also in nashiji -- 4 7/8in. (12.3cm.) long, (panels re-glued).
