Given to Father Arnold Mallinson as a boy in 1908 by Sir Cuthbert Cartwright Grundy, 'in whose family it was reputed to have been since the mid-seventeenth century'. This is by far the better of the two examples known, the other being a dark specimen from the 1994 Thames 'mudlark' hoard.
