Lot Essay

Ramage's thin, Halfcrown sized patterns, including one with a beaded edge, are of approximately Shilling weight and have often been listed as Shillings. Thus an argument can be made for both denominations. It should also be noted that while Blondeau made Shilling size patterns (see lot 90), Ramage did not.
