It is thought that this coin, apparently a one-year donative issue, may have been inspired by the contemporary Ismai'li coinage of the Fatimid caliph al-Mu'izz. The mint name Jalalabad is considered to be an honorific name - perhaps for a mint at or in Tarom, north of Qazwin.
