The first with slender tapering blade mainly of flattened hexagonal section and retaining faint traces of etched decoration, iron hilt with double-shell guard and globular pommel, decorated throughout with encrusted silver, and associated wooden grip bound with iron and copper wire (some wear throughout); the second of 1822 Infantry Pattern with plain pipe-backed blade (minor pitting and discolouration), and regulation gilt-brass guard with folding flap bearing 'GR' cypher, in its gilt-mounted black leather scabbard
