A Scottish Basket-Hilted Backsword
Second quarter of the 18th Century
With tapering single-edged blade double-edged towards the point and with two fullers running almost throughout its length along the back edge, iron guard of Glasgow type composed of bars of rectangular section involving fretted panels engraved with lines and pierced with circles and stylised hearts, scrolled wrist-guard, fluted pommel, and remains of leather liner (grip missing), in its iron-mounted scabbard covered in tooled leather and carrying two incised iron belt hooks
