The first by Charles Ingram, Union Street, Glasgow, circa 1865, the second dated 1816
The first with rebrowned barrel sighted to 1,100 yards, with indistinct signature at the breech (some surface pitting), and bayonet lug on the right side of the muzzle, scroll engraved patent breech and tang, signed scroll engraved lock, walnut three-quarter stock, chequered grip and fore-end, scroll engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon, two barrel bands, leather sling, and iron ramrod; the second with 34¼in. (87cm.) barrel (shortened), border engraved lock struck with lion rampant company crest and company viewer's mark, and dated on the tail, ring-neck cock, walnut stock stamped with the letters 'F.M' on the left side of the butt, brass mounts, iron sling swivels, and iron ramrod, London proof marks
