A Fine Cased Pair Of 20-Bore Flintlock Highland Dress Pistols With Silver Barrels And Stocks
Signed G. Hunter & Co., Princes Street, Edinburgh, circa 1820
With four-stage barrels polygonal at the muzzle and spirally fluted at the breech, the central section engraved with scrollwork on a hatched ground, signed locks engraved with scrollwork and foliage and each with rainproof pan, blued roller, steel-spring, safety-catch, and retaining screws, three-quarter stocks engraved with thistles, strapwork, and scrollwork, some on a hatched ground, 'ram's horn' butts with detachable prickers in the form of a thistle, silver-mounted cairngorm triggers in the form of an acorn, engraved blued belt hooks, bright steel ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in fitted case covered with tooled leather and lined with plum velvet, with silver three-way flask, the lid with gilt-copper escutcheon
