A late 18th Century French Prisoner of War bone model of the H.M.S. Superb, a second rate 90 gun Ship of the Line
with figurhead, stem rails, anchors, pin and fife rails, stove pipes, deck rings, bell and belfry. The main deck opening to second deck showing main gun deck and other decks below. The railings along the coaming with carved details of ovals and diamond shapes. The hull is planked in bone and brass pinned and all metal details are done in blackened brass. The poop deck is ivory (later), with quarter galleries, stern balcony and gallery with carved nameboard on transom. This model is unrigged and displayed on the ways with bundled spars on either side.
