A Napoleonic Boxwood Model Of A 44-Gun British Frigate

This is a very fine small scale model of this British frigate. The hull of the model is built up in plank-on-solid construction with fruitwood veneers used for the hull planking. The model has a black polychrome waist and a black inset sheer line. The deck of the model is is also of veneer with a large opening amidships showing some of the details on the lower deck. The model is well detailed with an ivory figurehead of a queen, anchors, pin and fife rails, belfry, deck hatches, ladders, deck rails, capstan, ships wheel, deck cannons, and numerous other details. The model is well rigged with bow sprit, three masts fitted with tops and trees, spanker gaff and boom, forestays, ratlines, backstays, sheets, bracing lines and many other rigging details. The model is displayed in a later (19th century) mahogany veneer and glass display case with a peaked center and finnials at each corner.
